Lenny Kravitz: The modern master of multi-cultural pop-music cool, Lenny Kravitz has been strutting his bell-bottomed, open-shirted stuff since 1990's "Let Love Rule." Though his musical debts to Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone may be audible so some, Kravitz is a vital songwriting talent, a gifted musician, and a fine singer. Records such as "Mama Said," from 1991, and "5," from 1998 provide ample proof that Kravitz has taken his influences  funk, rock, and reggae  and welded them into something all his own. The man is much more than the sum of his cheekbones.
